JOB TITLE:  Substitute Assistant Teachers

EMPLOYMENT HOURS:    Variable, on-call, as needed

ANNAUL SCHEDULE:  January through May and September through December

RATE OF PAY:  Call for current rate

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:  Assist the Center Base Teacher with carrying out a coordinated and maintained comprehensive education program at the classroom level in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Day Care Licensing and Agency policies and procedures.  Ride bus and monitor activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Education – High School Diploma or GED
Must be able to meet staff requirements according to day care licensing regulations including but not limited to clear background checks
Negative pre-employment drug test
Must be sensitive to the needs of low-income individuals and able to work with individuals of all cultural backgrounds and ages
 Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain state  minimum amount of automobile liability insurance

JOB TITLE: Substitute Bus Drivers

 EMPLOYMENT HOURS:   January through late May and September through December

 RATE OF PAY:   $ 11.80 per hour (Driving Hours)

                             $   9.45 per hour (w/o CDL)

 PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:  Maintain safe transportation of Head Start children and volunteers following Head Start Performance Standards, written plans and all applicable laws and regulations. 

 QUALIFICATIONS:    

          Minimum Education - High school diploma or GED

  • Minimum experience – Two (2) years driving experience with clean driving record
  • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain state minimum amount of automobile liability insurance
  • Must hold a Commercial Driver’s License with school bus endorsement, or obtain such within 90 days of employment
  • Ability to meet bus driver requirements according to day care licensing regulations and federal, State, and Local law including but not limited to the following:  clear background checks, driver recertification, training, and clean driving record
  • Ability to pass Bus Driver medical exam initially and ongoing as required; negative pre-employment drug test and random drug/alcohol testing thereafter
  • Ability to manage and understand needs of preschool children
  • Must be sensitive to the needs of low-income individuals and able to work with individuals of all cultural backgrounds and ages
