WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator in Hancock County

HHWP CAC is seeking a WIC Coordinator to be a part of our Women’s Infants and Children’s (WIC) program in Hancock County.

This position is full-time, working 40hrs/week, Monday-Friday. The rate of pay for this position is $21.39 - $30.05/hour, depending on education and experience. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized nutrition assessment, counseling, and education to participants, and prescribes tailored food packages
  • Refers participants to other health and social services and provides appropriate follow-up to referrals
  • Assists WIC participants in establishing and meeting their breastfeeding goals
  • Oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of local agency breastfeeding and nutrition activities
  • Ensures that local agency staff are properly trained on breastfeeding education and support
  • Provides ongoing supervision and support of local agency breastfeeding staff
  • Keeps current with up-to-date breastfeeding information
  • Identifies, coordinates and collaborates with community breastfeeding stakeholders
  • Monitors local agency breastfeeding rates
  • Ensures that breast pump issuance, inventory, and maintenance are logged and monitored

Minimum Requirements and Application Process

  • Must be a Registered Dietitian (preferred) or a Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Ohio, with one criteria listed below. Criteria is listed by preference. Applicants who do not meet this criteria may be hired with State approval.
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Currently eligible to sit for the IBCLC
  • Complete Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS), or other WIC approved training of at least 30 course hours
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of computer operations. Ability to multitask effectively
  • Must be sensitive and able to work with the needs of low-income individuals and individuals of all cultural backgrounds
  • Pre-employment and ongoing job requirements as required by the funding source and Agency policy
  • Must have a valid Ohio Drivers License, reliable transportation, and maintain state minimum amount of automobile liability coverage
